The first thing most people see when someone with a disability is in their presence is their “dis”-“ability.” Many emotions and feelings tend to rise when we encounter someone we perceive someone different than us. First, the energy of fear tends to sweep us off our feet and then we start questioning what to do or say. Some of us smile. Some of us start to empathize, feeling sorry or wondering what it would be like if we were living that person’s life. Some of us do everything in our power to get out of their way, and some of us judge with hatred or lack of understanding. All perceptions are not wrong in any way. I believe we are all entitled to our own perception, but we all tend to forget that disability is an energy that just got stuck.
Our energy is meant to be in movement and flowing with ease and balance. If you are even remotely human on this earth, we know balance isn’t very easy. When energy gets stuck, depending on the person, our body makes sure to let us know that something isn’t right. Sometimes we resist this energy and the “problem” tends to grow and grow. What’s great about being human is that we can sense and have the ability of awareness when things don’t seem right. What’s interesting is most of us don’t listen to our bodies.
When our energy is depleted, physical shifts and ailments occur. My client and friend Pamela has made a decision to shift and change this energy so she can one day have more control of the functions she lost pertaining to her physical challenges. There is only one way to create this change, and that is to make the decision to do so. Along with her other therapies, she has come to see me consistently, and I have come to find out that there are layers and layers behind her physical challenges. In her, there is a determined teacher and loving spirit who unknowingly heals the world around her. She has a story and a dream.
We all have our journeys and for the most part, it isn’t necessarily an easy one. Healing doesn’t mean everything is going to go back to the way it was; that your disability will go away. It means evolving to a mental and emotional state that helps heal your whole being. Some people will never walk, see, feel, talk, or move again, but that doesn’t mean life is over. It’s merely an energy that is a part of who you are. It isn’t WHO you are and depending on your personal journey, that energy may clear and get back in movement again. It depends on how far you are willing to go to heal yourself.
“Our body is merely the vessel in which our energy connects with to experience, grow, change and heal.” – Ryan
